Augustus Payroll Services 2025 Summary A Year of Growth Recognition and Resilience
Augustus Payroll Services 2025 summary
As we approach the end of another incredible year, it feels right to pause and reflect on what has been one of the most defining chapters yet for our business. This Augustus Payroll Services 2025 summary captures a year of growth, recognition, resilience and a deepened commitment to our people-first approach.

From Pink Walls to Big Plans
Just before Christmas last year, we moved into our very own office. True to form, it is pink of course. That move symbolised more than just a physical space. It marked a turning point where Augustus Payroll Services truly stepped into its next phase of growth.

Investing in People and Potential
The year began with onboarding our new team member, Sarah Bailey. Sarah joined us with no prior payroll experience and immediately took the bull by the horns. She started on 16 hours a week and, through determination and hard work, has grown her role to 28 hours a week. Watching her confidence and capability develop has been one of the most rewarding parts of the year.
Shortly after, we welcomed Angharad Morgan to the team. Having previously worked together in an accountancy bureau, bringing Angharad into Augustus Payroll Services felt like a natural and trusted progression. She has been an invaluable addition to the business, stepping into a more senior role and ensuring our clients continue to receive the full Augustus Payroll Services experience.

Sharing Our Expertise on Bigger Stages
In May, we exhibited at our first-ever Accountex event. This was a major milestone. I also had the opportunity to present directly to accountants on where and how we add value as an outsourced payroll partner. Our focus was clear. Augustus Payroll Services operates as an expert extension of accountancy firms, while also acting as a reliable and trusted outsourced payroll team for their clients. Seamless delivery, compliance confidence and high-quality support sit at the heart of everything we do.
That same month, I was honoured to contribute an article to the CIPP Professional magazine. The feature shared my personal journey of starting Augustus Payroll Services, including the challenges, milestones and motivations behind launching the business. It was written to support and inspire others within the payroll profession who may be considering a similar path.

Championing the Value of Payroll
Another very proud moment came with the invitation to write the foreword for The Value of Payroll, a newly released book by Hayley Patterson. The book celebrates the vital role payroll professionals play in organisations and in people’s lives. In my foreword, I shared my own journey and passion for payroll as a people-focused profession that deserves far greater recognition and respect across all sectors.
Growth Built on Resilience
Augustus Payroll Services began as a part-time venture in 2022, became a full-time business by 2023 and now generates over £120,000 annually. This growth has not come without challenge. Living with dyslexia, chronic asthma, and fibromyalgia has shaped how I lead and how the business operates. It has reinforced the importance of empathy, flexibility, and truly understanding the humans behind the payroll data.

Inclusivity at the Core
This year, Augustus Payroll Services proudly became a Disability Confident Employer. This recognition is deeply personal. I live with fibromyalgia, and my daughter and employee Cerys manages her mental health challenges with the support of her assistance dog, who plays a vital role in helping her cope with anxiety.

By embracing the Disability Confident framework, we are fostering a supportive and understanding environment within our own team while also championing inclusivity and awareness across the wider business community.
Awards and Industry Recognition
July delivered some truly proud and memorable moments for Augustus Payroll Services. We were delighted to be named Financial and Professional Service Business of the Year at the Carmarthenshire Business Awards, an achievement made even more special by celebrating alongside so many exceptional local businesses.
Around the same time, I was honoured to be invited to judge the CIPP Annual Excellence Awards 2025, recognising outstanding achievement and professionalism across the payroll industry.
We also attended the CIPP Annual Conference and Exhibition at Celtic Manor in Newport, where the team gained valuable industry insights, strengthened professional connections and enjoyed the ACEFEST celebrations and Annual Excellence Awards evening.

Another particularly meaningful highlight was winning the Association of Bureau Managers Award for Innovation in Payroll. Being nominated by a fellow payroll professional, Aneliya Petkova, and reading her heartfelt words about our business and approach made this recognition especially significant.

Industry Engagement and Events
Throughout the year, we remained actively engaged with the wider payroll and reward community. This included attending the Reward Strategy event in London and participating in a CIPP think tank alongside the Low Pay Commission, contributing insights on the proposed 2026 National Minimum Wage rates. These opportunities enabled me to share perspectives both as a business owner and on behalf of our clients, while remaining closely connected to industry developments and contributing to meaningful discussions about the future of payroll.

The Payroll Podcast
One of the most meaningful highlights of the year was appearing on The Payroll Podcast with Nick Day, a platform I have listened to and learned from for many years. Being invited onto the world’s largest payroll podcast felt like a significant personal and professional milestone.
During the episode, I spoke openly about my founding journey, the resilience required to grow a business, living with dyslexia, and supporting my daughter through her mental health challenges while continuing to lead and grow Augustus Payroll Services. Sharing such a personal and honest story on a global platform was both humbling and incredibly important to me. The episode is due to air in early 2026.

Looking Ahead with Purpose
To support the next phase of growth, I joined Sales Academy this year. This has helped me step back and focus on working on the business rather than in the business. With a clear 90-day plan for each quarter, the focus is firmly on sustainable growth, strategic decision-making and continuing to build a business that genuinely supports both clients and team members.

The Adventure Continues
As I look back on this year, I feel an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude. This has been a year of growth in every sense, not just in numbers or recognition, but in confidence, resilience and purpose. Building Augustus Payroll Services has never been about simply running payroll. It has always been about people, trust and doing the right thing, even when the journey has been challenging.
I am incredibly thankful to my team, our clients, industry peers and everyone who has supported and believed in us along the way. None of this happens in isolation, and every milestone reached this year has been a shared achievement.
As we move forward, I am excited to reveal further collaborations and upcoming work with the CIPP, The People’s Pension and many more adventures still to come. The journey is far from over, and I cannot wait to see where it leads next.
